Municipal Health is a division within the Department Technical and Planning Development. Staff has been placed strategically throughout the district to ensure effective service delivery in the region.

 

We are committed to improving the health of inhabitants of the Overberg Region by ensuring access to environmental health services at an internationally

acceptable standards.

 

CORE FUNCTIONS:

 

In accordance with the National Health Act (act 61 of 2003) the Municipal Health Department has the following functions:

 

·        Water quality Monitoring

·        Food control

·        Waste Management

·        Health surveillance at premises

·        Surveillance and prevention of communicable diseases, excluding immunisations

·        Vector control

·        Environmental pollution control

·        Disposal of the dead

       ·        Chemical safety
